Civil Engineering/Survey Drafter

LEI Oregon is seeking a full-time Civil Engineering/Survey Drafter for our Salem, Oregon office. This position is open to both entry-level and experienced candidates who are motivated, detail-oriented, and interested in supporting civil engineering and land surveying projects.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Drafting experience in civil engineering and/or land surveying preferred, but entry-level candidates with relevant education are encouraged to apply
  • Associate degree in Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with Autodesk Civil 3D preferred
  • Ability to follow direction and redlines from engineers and surveyors
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work

Job Duties

Work closely with Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors to prepare and revise plans and technical drawings. Responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing and assembling plan sets for civil site development, utilities, partitions, and subdivisions
  • Drafting grading plans, utility layouts, and supporting details
  • Updating drawings based on redlines and review comments
  • Importing survey data and assisting with surface and contour drafting
  • Assisting with sheet setup, formatting, and maintaining company CAD standards
  • Coordinating revisions with project managers and team members

Job Description:

Work closely and collaboratively with Engineering and Land Surveying Project Managers to develop engineering and land surveying plans and drawings. Typical responsibilities include:

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D tasks such as setting up sheets, importing survey points, generating contours and profiles, creating horizontal and vertical alignments, developing site and corridor models, performing volume calculations, and preparing project graphics for technical reports
  • Performing street and utility design in accordance with county and city standards and conditions of approval, while maintaining communication with planning and engineering staff to minimize revisions and misunderstandings
  • Drafting partition and subdivision plan sets
  • Assist Project Managers with research and development of preliminary planning documents
  • Interacting with clients and oversight agency personnel
