LEI Engineering & Surveying Helps Prepare New Hilton Garden Inn in Springfield for Opening

Posted by gzartman in Press

Springfield, OR  June 18, 2011  LEI Engineering and Surveying, LLC and construction crews are busy putting the finishing touches on the new Hilton Garden Inn in the Gateway area before it opens its doors for business on Monday, June 20th.  The stunning new hotel boasts 10 suites, 149 rooms with modern décor that includes 37” high-def flat panel TVs, full-service bar and lounge area, heated saline pool and whirlpool, and Hilton’s new Precor Fitness Center.  The new Hilton Garden Inn also provides the perfect back drop for business travelers with one boardroom, two small breakout areas for meetings, 3,000 square feet of meeting space, and a complimentary business center with valet print capabilities that allows guests to print remotely from their rooms with a security code.  Brian Latture, The Hotel Group Regional Director of Operations, adds that the 3,000 square foot ballroom can also be divided into three different sections to host a variety of events including weddings and corporate business meetings. He says, “The Hotel Group’s latest project, the Hilton Garden Inn Eugene/Springfield opening has been a very exciting adventure.  We believe the excellent reputation of the Hilton Garden Inn brand will compliment what the Springfield and Eugene markets currently have to offer.  Our location is ideally located off I-5, within close proximity to University of Oregon, Autzen Stadium and businesses including Peace Health’s Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend, Royal Caribbean, Symantec Corp, Peace Health Laboratories and Weyerhaeuser.  We are encouraged by the support we’ve received from the Springfield and Eugene communities and look forward to our summer opening.”

With more than three decades of engineering excellence, the LEI Team started working on the 2.83 acre Hilton Garden Inn site that consists of a hotel, parking lot, pedestrian facilities, and landscaping in early 2009.  LEI has successfully designed numerous other commercial developments in Oregon that include the Bridgeport Village, www.bridgetport-village.com, in Tualatin, Oregon. Greg Zartman, the President of LEI and Head Project Engineer says, “Our vast experience and skilled engineers allows us to skillfully complete our work in a timely and cost effective manner. We’ve enjoyed doing the design work for this stunning new Hilton Garden Inn that will clearly be a huge asset for everyone in the Eugene-Springfield community.”

LEI has once again proven its decades of engineering excellence by successfully completing the grading design, sanitary sewer design and waterline design for the new hotel so that building permits could be approved in a timely manner for construction.  More specifically, LEI’s responsibilities included evaluating the existing site drainage conditions and then designing a stormwater drainage system that would provide the existing water treatment and conveyance for the entire site.  Following the standard requirements of the City of Springfield Engineering Design, Zartman says water quality demand flows had to be treated before entering the public stormwater system, which entailed using both vegetated swales and water quality catch basins.  LEI also developed and implemented erosion and sedimentation control plans for the entire site to provide conveyance for the 25-year storm event.

Latture says the ribbon cutting ceremony for the New Hilton Garden Inn is set for July 28th with the Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
